Getting There

Car
From central Tosa, head northwest on Route 56 towards Kochi city. Continue on Route 56 for approximately 30 km until you reach the junction with Route 317. Take the exit onto Route 317 and follow the signs towards Hiroshima. After about 1.5 hours of driving, you will reach the city of Hatsukaichi. In Hatsukaichi, follow signs for Miyajima and take Route 2 towards the ferry terminal. Park your car at the designated parking area near the ferry terminal, which usually costs around 1,000 yen per day. From the ferry terminal, take a ferry to Miyajima Island, which costs approximately 1,800 yen for a round trip. The ferry ride takes about 10 minutes.

Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start at Tosa Station and take the JR Dosan Line towards Kochi. Transfer at Kochi Station to the JR San'yo Line heading towards Hiroshima. On arriving at Hiroshima Station, switch to the JR Sanyo Line to get to Miyajimaguchi Station. From Miyajimaguchi Station, walk to the ferry terminal (about 5-10 minutes). Purchase a round trip ferry ticket to Miyajima Island for approximately 1,800 yen. The ferry ride will take around 10 minutes. Upon arrival at Miyajima, follow the signs to Itsukushima Jinja, which is about a 15-minute walk from the ferry terminal.
