Getting There

  • Ropeway

    From Miyajima Pier, walk approximately 20 minutes to Momijidani Park, or take the free shuttle bus. From Momijidani Station, purchase a ticket for the Miyajima Ropeway. Take the ropeway, which involves a transfer at Kayatani Station, to Shishiiwa Station. From Shishiiwa Station, the observatory is a short walk away. A round trip ropeway ticket costs ¥2,000 for adults and ¥1,000 for children.

  • Hiking

    From Miyajima Pier, follow signs towards Mount Misen. Choose one of the three hiking trails: Momijidani Course, Daisho-in Course, or Omoto Course. The Daisho-in Course offers the best views and is less steep. The hike to the summit takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. From the summit, follow signs to Shishiiwa Observatory, which is approximately a 30-minute walk from the summit. There are no costs involved in hiking.
