Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Tosa city. Set your GPS to the Red Torii Gate located at 11 Arashiyama Miyanomaecho, Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto, 616-0024. The journey will take approximately 3 hours, covering around 150 kilometers. You will take Route 32 north from Tosa, transitioning to Route 1. Follow the signs to Kyoto, and once you reach the outskirts of Kyoto, look for signs leading to Arashiyama. Parking is available near the site, but be aware that it may cost around 500-1000 yen depending on the duration of your stay.

To reach the Red Torii Gate using public transportation, begin at Tosa city. First, take a bus from the Tosa city center to Kochi Station, which takes about 30 minutes and costs around 600 yen. From Kochi Station, board the JR Shikoku train to Kyoto Station. This train journey will take approximately 2 hours and costs around 5000 yen. Once at Kyoto Station, transfer to the JR Sagano Line and get off at Saga-Arashiyama Station. The Red Torii Gate is about a 15-minute walk from the station. Follow the signs towards Arashiyama, and you will reach the gate.
