Car
If you're driving from Zao Onsen, start by heading north on Route 457. Follow this road for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the Zao Onsen ski area. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Okama. Once you reach the ski area, look for the parking area where you can safely park your car. From the parking lot, take the hiking trail marked for Okama, which is a well-maintained path leading directly to the crater lake. The hike will take around 30-40 minutes.

To reach Okama using public transportation, start by taking the local bus from Zao Onsen to the Zao Onsen ski area. The bus stop is located near the main hotels and is clearly marked. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the ski area, you will need to follow the designated hiking trail to Okama. The trailhead is easily accessible from the bus stop and is marked with signs. The hike will take approximately 30-40 minutes, offering beautiful views along the way.
