If you're driving from anywhere in Southeast Kansas, take US-54 E towards Independence, MO. Continue on US-54 E for about 45 miles until you reach the junction with I-70. Merge onto I-70 E and follow the signs for Kansas City. After approximately 25 miles, take exit 6A for I-470 S toward Lee's Summit. Continue on I-470 S for about 16 miles, then take exit 1B to merge onto US-40 E toward Independence. Follow US-40 E for about 5 miles, and then turn left onto N Main St. The Harry S Truman National Historic Site will be on your right at 223 N Main St, Independence, MO 64050.
