Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from the main entrance of Chyulu Hills National Park. Head south on the Maktau Road (C95) for approximately 20 kilometers. You will pass through scenic landscapes and may spot wildlife along the way. Continue straight until you reach the sign for Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy. Turn left at the sign and follow the dirt road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the conservancy entrance. Ensure your vehicle has good clearance for the dirt road, as it may be bumpy.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy via public transportation, first take a matatu (shared taxi) from the nearest town, such as Maktau, to Chyulu Hills National Park. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you will need to arrange a private taxi or a local guide to take you to Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy, which is about 25 kilometers away. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it typically costs around 2000-3000 KES depending on the time of day.

• Walking

  If you are adventurous and already near the entrance of Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy, you can consider walking. From the main entrance of Chyulu Hills National Park, head south on Maktau Road for about 20 kilometers until you reach the sign for Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy. Turn left at the sign and continue walking for about 5 kilometers. Be cautious as this is a rural area, and it’s advisable to travel in groups for safety.
