Car
If you are driving from Meru town, start on the Meru-Nanyuki road (A2). Continue for approximately 30 kilometers, then take the turnoff to Meru National Park. Follow the signs for the park entrance. Once inside the park, follow the main road to Elsa's Kopje, which is situated on a hill within the park. The journey from Meru town takes about 1 hour depending on the road conditions. Note that there may be an entrance fee for the national park, which is approximately KES 1,000 for non-residents.
Public Transportation
From Meru town, take a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Nanyuki. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Meru National Park entrance. This journey should take about 30-45 minutes. Once at the entrance, you will need to arrange for a park vehicle or a taxi to take you to Elsa's Kopje, which is about a 30-minute drive inside the park. Be prepared to pay the entrance fee to the park, which is about KES 1,000 for non-residents, and also the cost of the vehicle from the entrance to Elsa's Kopje, which varies.
Private Shuttle
If you prefer more comfort, you can book a private shuttle from Meru town to Elsa's Kopje. Several companies provide this service, and you can arrange it through your accommodation in Meru. The shuttle will take you directly to the park entrance and then to Elsa's Kopje. This option is more expensive but offers a more convenient and personalized travel experience. Expect to pay around KES 5,000-10,000 depending on the service provider.
