If you are driving from Kisumu city center, take the Kisumu-Busia Road (A1) and head towards the western part of Kisumu. After approximately 5 kilometers, turn right onto the road leading to Hippo Point. Follow the signs to Hippo Point, which is located along the shores of Lake Victoria. There is ample parking available on-site. Make sure to check the local traffic rules and road conditions before you travel.

Public Transportation

To reach Hippo Point by public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Kisumu city center heading towards the Kisumu-Busia Road. You can board a matatu at the Kisumu bus station. Ask the conductor to drop you off near Hippo Point. The fare is usually around 50-100 Kenyan Shillings based on your negotiation skills. From the drop-off point, it is a short walk to Hippo Point. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they will stop at Hippo Point before boarding.

Bicycle

For the more adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Kisumu and cycle to Hippo Point. Follow the same route as the car directions, taking A1 towards Busia. It's about a 10-kilometer ride from the city center. Be cautious of traffic and ensure you have enough water and sun protection for the ride.

Boat

Another unique way to reach Hippo Point is by taking a boat ride from Kisumu. Head to the Kisumu Marina where you can hire a boat to take you to Hippo Point.
