Car
If you are driving from the city of Thakhek, head east on Route 12 for about 40 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 13. Turn left onto Route 13 and continue for approximately 20 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Pak Phung. Follow the signs to Pak Phung and take the unnamed road (H6M8+RR2) that leads to Lom Yan Cave. The cave is located about 5 kilometers down this road. Ensure your vehicle has good clearance as some sections may be rough.
Public Transportation
From Thakhek, take a local bus heading towards Pak Phung. The buses leave from the Thakhek bus station and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, costing around 20,000 LAK. Once you arrive in Pak Phung, you can hire a tuk-tuk to take you to Lom Yan Cave. The tuk-tuk ride will take approximately 15 minutes and should cost around 50,000 to 100,000 LAK, depending on your negotiation skills.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Thakhek to Lom Yan Cave. The journey will take about an hour and costs approximately 300,000 to 400,000 LAK. Ensure to agree on the price before you start your journey. The taxi can take you directly to the entrance of the cave.
