From the center of Thakhek, head to the main street where tuk-tuks are commonly found. You can look for the tuk-tuk station near the Thakhek bus station. Inform the driver that you want to go to Thafalang in Xiangliab. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 30,000 to 50,000 LAK.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Thakhek. Start by heading east along the Mekong River road until you reach the intersection with Route 12. Turn left onto Route 12 and continue cycling for about 15 kilometers. Look for signs pointing towards Xiangliab. The journey should take roughly 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your cycling speed and stops.

Walking
Walking to Thafalang from Thakhek is not recommended due to the distance (approximately 15 kilometers) and lack of pedestrian paths. However, if you're determined, start from the center of Thakhek and follow the Mekong River road. Walk along Route 12, and after about 3-4 hours of walking, you should reach Xiangliab. Make sure to carry water and snacks as there are limited shops along the way.

For a quicker option, consider renting a motorbike from one of the shops in Thakhek. After getting your motorbike, head east towards the Mekong River and take Route 12. Follow the road signs towards Xiangliab. The ride will take about 30 minutes. Ensure you have a valid driving license and wear a helmet.
