Bicycle
From the center of Thakhek, head east on Route 12. You'll find bicycle rentals available near the Mekong River. Once you have your bike, ride along Route 12 for about 7 kilometers until you reach the town of Thakhaek. Continue straight until you see signs for the 'Tham Nang Aen Cave'. After roughly 3 kilometers, look for a small road on your right that leads to the cave. Follow this road for about 2 kilometers, and you will arrive at the cave entrance.
Tuk-Tuk
To reach Tham Nang Aen Cave from Thakhek, find a tuk-tuk in the main square or ask your hotel to arrange one for you. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The driver will take you along Route 12, heading east for approximately 10 kilometers. After passing through Thakhaek, the driver will look for signs directing to 'Tham Nang Aen Cave'. Expect a short detour off the main road, where the tuk-tuk will take you directly to the cave entrance.
Walking
While walking to Tham Nang Aen Cave is not the most common option due to the distance, if you prefer this method, start from the main square in Thakhek. Head east on Route 12 and walk approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the intersection for Thakhaek. From there, take the road on your right that leads towards the cave. It's about a 2-kilometer walk from this intersection to the cave entrance. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and allow plenty of time for the journey.
