The Smiltene Regional Studies Museum is located in Mēru Manor (Mēru muiža), a beautiful manor house in the Bilskas Parish of Smiltene Municipality. The manor itself dates back to the 17th century, with the current manor house built in 1905 in the Neo-Renaissance style by Jacob Hecker. Its architecture features a picturesque silhouette, impressive dimensions, and a high tiled roof with a massive square tower. Inside the museum, visitors can explore exhibits on the history of the manor, the cultural traditions of the Smiltene region, and the medical history of the area. The museum also hosts temporary art, history, and culture exhibitions. One of the highlights is the exhibit dedicated to the Krūmali family, who were doctors and contributed to researching, collecting, and preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Smiltene.
