Public Transport
From Vaduz, take the hourly Route 21 bus towards Malbun, Zentrum. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes. From the Malbun, Zentrum bus stop, the Augstenberg hiking trails are easily accessible. From the bus stop, walk towards the Alpenhotel Malbun, where you will find parking options and the beginning of the hiking trail. A single bus fare costs approximately CHF 3-5.
Walking
From anywhere in the village of Malbun, Augstenberg is a prominent feature and easy to navigate towards. The main trailheads are located near the Alpenhotel Malbun. From the village center, follow the signs towards the Fürstin-Gina-Weg or the Sareis chairlift. The walk to the base of the mountain takes approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on your location in Malbun.
Cable Car
From Malbun, take the Sareis chairlift, which brings you up to 2,000m. From there, a hiking tour over Augstenberg mountain to the Pfälzer hut starts. As of July 2025, the Sareis chairlift is undergoing general maintenance until July 31, 2025. During this time, a replacement service with minibuses is available to get to Sareis. A one-way ticket costs CHF 10.30/adult.
