Augstenberg: A Peak Experience in Malbun

Augstenberg, rising to 2,359 meters (7,740 feet), is a prominent mountain in Liechtenstein, nestled in the Rätikon range of the Eastern Alps. Its proximity to the Austrian border and the charming town of Malbun makes it an accessible and appealing destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The mountain is a popular 'Hausberg' (home mountain) for Malbun, offering several routes to the summit. The most common path involves taking the ski lift from Malbun to Berggasthaus Sareis, a restaurant situated on the ridge connecting Ochsenkopf and Augstenberg. From there, a well-maintained trail leads south towards the summit, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding Austrian and Swiss Alps. The 'Fürstin-Gina-Weg' (Princess Gina Trail), a scenic circular hike, also leads to Augstenberg, offering diverse perspectives and landscapes. Reaching the summit rewards hikers with panoramic vistas, including the Falkniskette and Schesaplanastock mountain chains.
