Lindau's island is compact and easily explored on foot. From Lindau Inselbahnhof (the island's train station), most attractions are within a 5-10 minute walk. Follow the signs towards the harbor and old town. Note that the island is mostly pedestrianized, making it ideal for walking.

If arriving at Lindau-Reutin (the mainland train station), take the city bus (lines 1 and 2) to the island. The bus stops at Anheggerstraße, a central bus stop where all lines intersect. From there, it's a short walk to the harbor and old town. A single ticket costs €2.90. The Echt Bodensee Card, provided to guests, allows free travel on Lindau city buses.

Ferries connect Lindau to other towns on Lake Constance, including Bregenz (Austria) and Rorschach (Switzerland). From the ferry terminal, it's a short walk to Lindau's attractions. A one-way trip to Bregenz costs approximately €5.70 and takes 22 minutes. A one-way trip to Rorschach costs approximately €12.70 and takes about an hour.
