Theater Chur, formerly known as Stadttheater Chur, stands as the largest theater in the canton of Graubünden. Since its establishment in 1876, the theater has maintained a continuous seasonal operation, offering a rich program of performances and guest appearances. The theater's history is marked by significant milestones, including the premiere of Bertolt Brecht's "Antigone" in 1948, directed by Brecht himself and Caspar Neher. In 1959, the theater moved to its current location on Grabenstrasse, adjacent to the Grossratsgebäude (Cantonal Parliament Building). This building was originally an armoury designed by Johannes Ludwig between 1861 and 1863 and was converted in 1959. Today, Theater Chur presents a diverse program from September to June, including international productions, national and regional co-productions, and performances by actors, musicians, and puppet theaters.
