Travel Guide to Bastion of the Vilnius Defensive Wall

Getting There

• Walking

  From Trakai Island Castle, exit the castle grounds and head east towards the main road. Follow the signs to Trakai train station, which is about a 15-minute walk. Once you reach the station, take the train to Vilnius. The train departs frequently, and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. After arriving at Vilnius train station, exit and head towards the bus stop located just outside the station. Look for bus number 88, which will take you directly to the area near the Bastion of the Vilnius Defensive Wall. The bus ride will take about 15 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Bokšto g.' and walk a short distance to reach the bastion at Bokšto g. 20.

• Car

  If you are driving from Trakai Island Castle, get onto the A16 road heading towards Vilnius. The drive will take approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once in Vilnius, follow the signs to the city center and then to Bokšto g. Use GPS or a navigation app to guide you to Bokšto g. 20. Be aware that parking in the city may incur costs, so look for paid parking areas nearby the bastion.

• Public Transportation

  To take public transportation from Trakai Island Castle to the Bastion of the Vilnius Defensive Wall, first walk to Trakai bus station (about a 10-minute walk). Here, you can catch a bus to Vilnius. Buses are frequent and the trip takes about 40 minutes. Upon arrival at Vilnius bus station, transfer to a local bus (number 88 is recommended) towards the city center. The bus will take approximately 15 minutes to reach the stop 'Bokšto g.' where the bastion is located. Remember to check the bus schedules as they may vary.
