Getting There

  • Hiking

    Begin your journey at the Jordan Pond House, which is a popular starting point for many hikes in Acadia National Park. From the Jordan Pond House, follow the Jordan Pond Path towards the north end of the pond. As you reach the end of the pond, you will see signs indicating the start of the Bubbles Trail. The trailhead is located near the parking area at the north end of the pond. Follow the Bubbles Trail, which is well-marked and gradually ascends. The hike to South Bubble is approximately 1.5 miles and will take around 1-1.5 hours depending on your pace. As you hike, enjoy the scenic views of Jordan Pond and the surrounding landscape. Once you reach the summit of South Bubble, take a moment to enjoy the panoramic views of the park and the iconic Bubble Rock.

  • Shuttle

    If you're near the Village Green in Bar Harbor, you can take the Island Explorer shuttle service that operates during the summer months. Board the shuttle that is headed towards the Jordan Pond area. The shuttle will drop you off at the Jordan Pond House. From there, follow the same hiking route mentioned above to reach South Bubble. Make sure to check the shuttle schedule in advance, as it may vary throughout the day.

  • Biking

    If you have access to a bicycle, you can bike from the Village Green in Bar Harbor to Jordan Pond. Follow the carriage roads that lead to the pond. This route is about 3 miles and offers a scenic ride through the park. Once you arrive at Jordan Pond, lock your bike at the bike rack and proceed to hike the Bubbles Trail as described earlier.
