Getting There

Walking
Start at the Bar Harbor Town Pier, where you can enjoy views of the harbor. From the pier, head east along Main Street until you reach the intersection with Eden Street. Turn left onto Eden Street and continue walking. After about 0.5 miles, you will reach a fork. Stay left to continue on Eden Street. Follow this road until you reach the entrance of Acadia National Park. Enter the park and follow the signs for the Park Loop Road. As you walk, enjoy the scenery of the park. Continue on the Park Loop Road for about 2 miles, and look for the sign indicating the trailhead for the South Bubble Trail. The trailhead is located off the Park Loop Road, and from there, follow the South Bubble Trail for approximately 1 mile uphill to reach Bubble Rock. The hike will take about 30-45 minutes depending on your pace.

Rent a bike from one of the local bike shops in Bar Harbor. Begin your journey at the Bar Harbor Town Pier and ride east along Main Street. Continue onto Eden Street, following the same route as if walking. Once you reach the entrance of Acadia National Park, enter the park and head towards Park Loop Road. You can ride along Park Loop Road for about 2 miles until you reach the South Bubble Trailhead. Park your bike at the designated bike rack, and then continue on foot along the South Bubble Trail for about 1 mile to reach Bubble Rock. The bike ride should take around 15-20 minutes, while the hike will take an additional 30-45 minutes.

Public Transportation
Check the local bus schedule for the Island Explorer, which is a free shuttle service in the Bar Harbor area, running from late June to mid-October. Board the bus at any designated stop in Bar Harbor and request to be dropped off at the Acadia National Park Visitor Center. From the Visitor Center, you can catch another shuttle that heads towards the Park Loop Road. Get off at the stop nearest to the South Bubble Trailhead. From there, follow the South Bubble Trail for about 1 mile to reach Bubble Rock. Make sure to check the bus schedule for return trips to Bar Harbor.
