Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, start from Bar Harbor, the main hub for visitors to Mount Desert Island. Head southeast on Main Street (Route 3) and continue straight for about 2 miles. Look for signs for Acadia National Park. Once you see the park entrance, turn left onto the Park Loop Road. Continue on Park Loop Road until you reach the trailhead for the Champlain North Ridge Trail, which will be on your right. There is a parking area available, but note that during peak season, you may need to pay a parking fee, which can be around $30 for a vehicle.

  If you're using public transportation, take the Island Explorer bus from Bar Harbor. The bus system operates during the summer months and offers free service around Mount Desert Island. Board the bus on Main Street and take it to the 'Champlain Mountain' stop. From there, you will have a short walk to the Champlain North Ridge Trailhead. Make sure to check the bus schedule as it can vary, especially during off-peak times.

• Walking

  For those staying nearby and wanting to hike to Champlain Mountain, you can walk from Bar Harbor. Head south on Main Street, then take a left onto West Street. Follow West Street until it merges with the Park Loop Road. Continue walking along the road until you reach the Champlain North Ridge Trailhead. This route is approximately 2.5 miles one way and offers beautiful views along the way.
