Ferry
To reach Friends of Fort Gorges, start by making your way to the Casco Bay Lines ferry terminal located at 56 Commercial St in Portland. If you're coming from downtown Portland, you can walk to the terminal in about 10-15 minutes. From the terminal, purchase a ticket for the ferry to Peaks Island. The ferry ride takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at Peaks Island, you can either walk, rent a bike, or use a golf cart service to get to the beach area. Follow the signs towards the Fort Gorges boat landing, which is located on the southeastern side of the island. Depending on the tide, you may need to wade a bit to reach the fort.

For an adventurous route, consider renting a kayak or canoe from one of the local rental shops in Portland, such as Portland Paddle. Head to the East End Beach, which is a popular launch point for kayakers. From there, paddle across the harbor towards Fort Gorges, which is about a 1.5-mile journey.
