Getting There

Car
From Kande Beach, head south on the M5 road. Follow the road for approximately 10 kilometers. You will pass through small villages and scenic landscapes. Keep an eye out for the signs indicating Nkhata Bay. Once you reach the junction near the town of Nkhata Bay, take a left turn onto the road leading towards the mountain. Continue driving for about 5 kilometers until you reach the foot of Kawanga Mountain. Parking is available at the base.

Public Transportation
From Kande Beach, take a minibus heading towards Nkhata Bay. The minibus station is located near the main beach area. The fare is approximately 1,500 MWK per person. The journey takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on stops. Once you arrive at Nkhata Bay, walk towards the junction and look for signage to Kawanga Mountain. You may need to negotiate a local taxi to take you the final 5 kilometers to the foot of the mountain, which should cost around 5,000 MWK.
