Car
From Kande Beach, head north on the M5 road towards the town of Nkhata Bay. Continue for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for the Likoma Island ferry terminal in the town of Nkhata Bay. It is advisable to refuel here if needed, as fuel stations are limited on the island. Take the ferry from Nkhata Bay to Likoma Island. The ferry ride takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and costs approximately MWK 5,000 to MWK 10,000 per person, depending on the ferry service. Once you arrive at Likoma Island, follow the main road towards St. Peter's Cathedral, which is about a 10-minute drive from the ferry terminal.
Public Transportation
From Kande Beach, you can catch a minibus heading to Nkhata Bay from the main road. The fare is around MWK 1,500 to MWK 2,000. Once you arrive in Nkhata Bay, make your way to the ferry terminal. Purchase your ferry ticket to Likoma Island. The ferry ride will cost you between MWK 5,000 and MWK 10,000 and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arrival at Likoma Island, you can take a local taxi or a motorcycle taxi (bodaboda) to reach St. Peter's Cathedral, which is about a 10-minute ride from the ferry terminal.
