If you are traveling by car from any point in the Thyolo Highlands, head towards the main road leading south from Thyolo town. Continue for approximately 20 kilometers until you see signs for Kuti Wildlife Reserve. Take the left turn towards the reserve, which is clearly marked. The road may be unpaved, so drive with caution. Continue down this road for about 5 kilometers, and you will arrive at the entrance of Kuti Wildlife Reserve. There is an entrance fee of approximately MWK 5,000 per person.
Public Transport
For those opting for public transport, first take a minibus from Thyolo town to the nearest junction for Kuti Wildlife Reserve. This journey typically costs around MWK 1,000 and takes about 30 minutes. Once you reach the junction, you may need to hire a local taxi to cover the remaining distance to the reserve, which is about 5 kilometers. Taxi fares can vary but expect to pay approximately MWK 2,000 to MWK 3,000 for this short ride. Ensure you arrange for the taxi driver to return to pick you up after your visit.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous travelers, cycling to Kuti Wildlife Reserve is an option. Start from Thyolo town and follow the same route as the car directions. The distance is about 25 kilometers, so be prepared for a moderately challenging ride. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks. Upon arrival, you will need to pay the entrance fee of around MWK 5,000.
