Experience Kota Kinabalu Wetland Ramsar Site

Getting There

  • Walking

    From any location in Likas, head towards Jalan Likas, which is the main road. Walk along this road until you reach the junction with Jalan Bukit Bendera. This should take about 10-15 minutes depending on your starting point. Once at the junction, turn left onto Jalan Bukit Bendera. Continue walking for about 500 meters. Look for the entrance to the Kota Kinabalu Wetland Ramsar Site on your left. The site is well-signposted, and you should see a gate leading into the wetlands. Note that the site is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.

  • Bicycle

    If you have access to a bicycle, you can cycle from Likas. Start by heading towards Jalan Likas and follow the same route as mentioned for walking. Cycling will take about 5-10 minutes to reach the junction with Jalan Bukit Bendera. After turning left onto Jalan Bukit Bendera, continue cycling for around 500 meters. The entrance to the Kota Kinabalu Wetland Ramsar Site will be on your left. Remember to wear a helmet and follow local traffic rules.

  • Public Bus

    You can also take a local bus from Likas to reach the Kota Kinabalu Wetland Ramsar Site. Look for bus number 19 or 20, which operates along the Likas route. Board the bus at any of the bus stops along Jalan Likas. The fare is approximately RM 2.00. Ask the bus driver to drop you off near Jalan Bukit Bendera. Once you get off the bus, walk for about 5 minutes down Jalan Bukit Bendera, and the entrance to the wetland will be on your left. Buses typically run every 30 minutes.
