Discover more about Wied il-Mielaħ Window

The Wied il-Mielaħ Window, also known as it-Tieqa ta' Wied il-Mielaħ, is a captivating natural arch sculpted from limestone on the north-western coast of Gozo, Malta. Located at the end of the Wied il-Mielaħ Valley, near the village of Għarb, this geological formation has emerged as a prominent attraction, especially after the collapse of the Azure Window in 2017. Formed over millennia by the relentless forces of wind and water, the arch stands as a testament to the power of natural erosion. The surrounding area features a rugged terrain with diverse vegetation typical of the Mediterranean, including hardy shrubs and aromatic herbs. Birdwatchers can spot various seabird species in the area. In the past, the valley faced pollution issues due to wastewater discharge. However, a restoration project, largely funded by the European Union, led to the construction of a sewage treatment plant and the renewal of the road leading to the coast. Today, the Wied il-Mielaħ Window offers visitors a chance to witness unspoiled beauty and connect with nature.
