Getting There

  • Metro

    From any location in Bethesda, head to the Bethesda Metro Station located at 7400 Wisconsin Ave. Take the Red Line towards Glenmont. Ride for about 8 stops and get off at the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station. Once you exit the station, head west on I St NW towards 23rd St NW. Turn right onto 23rd St NW and walk towards the Potomac River. Continue walking until you reach the Theodore Roosevelt Island entrance.

    Find a nearby bus stop and take the Ride On Bus Route 34 towards the Rockville Metro Station. Stay on until you reach the corner of Wisconsin Ave and Montgomery Ave. Transfer to the Metrobus 30N or 30S towards the Rosslyn Metro Station. Ride for about 20 minutes and get off at the stop for Key Bridge. From there, walk across the Key Bridge, follow the signs to Theodore Roosevelt Island, which will be on your left.

    If you are close to the Potomac River or the Arlington Memorial Bridge, you can take a scenic walk. Start at the Arlington Memorial Bridge and walk towards the west side of the river. Follow the path along the riverbank until you reach Theodore Roosevelt Island. The walk will take about 30-40 minutes, depending on your starting point.
