Getting There

    If you are driving, head to 3701 Canal Rd, Point of Rocks, MD 21777. From any location in C&O Canal National Historical Park, follow park signs to reach the nearest road. Once you reach MD-28, turn onto Canal Rd. The destination will be on your right-hand side. There is parking available at the site.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal via public transportation, take a local bus to the nearest Metro station. From the Metro station, take the MARC train to the Point of Rocks station. After arriving at Point of Rocks, it is approximately a 1.5-mile walk to 3701 Canal Rd. Follow the signs along the road leading to the canal.

  • Bicycle

    For those who prefer cycling, you can access the canal via the C&O Canal Towpath. If you are already in the park, simply follow the Towpath towards Point of Rocks. The entrance to the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is directly accessible from the Towpath.
