Exit the station and walk two blocks east on I Street NW to 17th St NW. Turn left on 17th St NW, and the National Geographic Museum of Exploration will be on your right at 1145 17th St NW.

Walk to the nearest bus stop that services the Ride On bus routes. Take the Ride On Route 10 bus towards the Silver Spring Metro Station. Get off at the Silver Spring Metro Station, then transfer to the Metro's Red Line towards Glenmont. After 8 stops, get off at Farragut North. Walk two blocks east on I Street NW and turn left on 17th St NW. The National Geographic Museum of Exploration is located at 1145 17th St NW, just a short walk from there.

If you're up for a longer walk, you can walk from Silver Spring to downtown Washington, D.C. Start by heading southwest on Georgia Ave towards Sligo Creek Parkway. Follow the path until you reach the Capital Crescent Trail. Follow the trail until it leads you to Water St NW. Turn right onto Water St NW, and continue until you reach 17th St NW. Turn left on 17th St NW and continue until you arrive at the National Geographic Museum of Exploration at 1145 17th St NW. Note that this is a lengthy walk of about 6 miles and may take around 2 hours.
