Walking
If you're starting from downtown New Bedford, head east on Purchase Street towards the waterfront. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Acushnet Avenue (Route 18). Turn left onto Acushnet Avenue and walk until you reach Hope Street. Turn right onto Hope Street. The Museum of Madeiran Heritage will be on your left at 27 Hope St. It's approximately a 15-20 minute walk from downtown.

From downtown New Bedford, you can take the NBTA bus number 10, which heads towards the North End. Board the bus at the nearest stop to your location. After about 10 minutes, get off at the stop closest to Hope Street. Walk east on Hope Street for about 5 minutes, and the Museum of Madeiran Heritage will be on your right at 27 Hope St.
