Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Palenque, head towards the east on Avenida 16 de Septiembre. Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance of Palenque National Park, which is well marked. You will see signs indicating the entrance to the archaeological site. The entrance fee is approximately 80 MXN (as of 2023). Once inside the park, follow the paths that lead you towards the Temple of the Sun, which is located within a few minutes' walk from the entrance.

    If you prefer to cycle, there are several bicycle rental shops in the center of Palenque. Rent a bicycle for about 100 MXN for half a day. Once you have your bicycle, ride east on Avenida 16 de Septiembre towards the entrance of Palenque National Park. This route is approximately 1 kilometer. After entering the park, park your bicycle and walk to the Temple of the Sun, which is within easy reach from the entrance.
