Car
If you are driving, start from the nearest main road in the Lacandon Jungle, which is the Carretera Fronteriza del Sur (Highway 199). Head south towards the town of Lacanjá Chansayab. After approximately 30-40 minutes, you will reach the junction for Yaxchilán. Follow the signs leading to Zona Arqueológica de Yaxchilán. Note that the last stretch of road (around 8 km) is unpaved and may require a 4x4 vehicle. Ensure you have enough fuel, and check your vehicle before embarking on this journey.

Public Transportation
To reach Zona Arqueológica de Yaxchilán using public transportation, first take a bus or colectivo (shared taxi) from San Cristóbal de las Casas to the town of Lacanjá Chansayab. This journey will take around 5-6 hours. Once in Lacanjá, you can hire a local taxi or join a tour that offers transportation to Yaxchilán. Be prepared to pay an entrance fee, which is approximately 50 MXN (Mexican Pesos). The taxi ride from Lacanjá to Yaxchilán will take about 30-45 minutes, with the last section being through the jungle.

Boat
Another option is to take a boat from the nearby town of Frontera Corozal. After reaching Frontera Corozal, you can arrange for a boat ride on the Usumacinta River, which takes approximately 30 minutes to Yaxchilán. This scenic route allows you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the jungle. Be sure to negotiate the price for the boat ride beforehand, as it can vary. The entrance fee to the archaeological site is also applicable.
