Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From Tijuana, walk to the nearest bus stop and take the public bus to San Ysidro. Make sure to take a bus that goes to the border. Upon reaching the San Ysidro border, follow the signs to cross into the United States. After crossing, you will be in San Ysidro, California. Once in San Ysidro, look for the MTS (Metropolitan Transit System) bus stops. Take the MTS bus Route 8 towards 'Old Town' or Route 215 towards 'College Grove.' Get off at the 'Old Town' stop, which is close to the entrance of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.

  • Trolley

    After crossing the border into the United States, head to the San Ysidro Trolley Station, which is a short walk from the border crossing. Buy a ticket for the San Diego Trolley and board the Blue Line trolley towards 'Downtown San Diego.' Stay on the trolley for several stops until you reach the 'Old Town' station. Once you get off at 'Old Town,' follow the signs to the park entrance.

    If you prefer walking, from the Tijuana border crossing, you can walk directly to the San Ysidro Trolley Station (approximately 15-20 minutes). Once you cross the border, head straight towards the trolley station, buy a ticket, and take the trolley as described above to reach Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.
