Getting There

Public Transportation (Collectivo)
From Tulum, head to the main road (Carretera Tulum-Cancun). Look for a collectivo (shared van) that is heading towards Akumal. The collectivos are usually waiting at designated stops or you can wave one down. The fare is around 30-50 pesos. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Akumal, get off at the main entrance to the beach area. From there, walk towards the beach where you will find the snorkeling area.

Bicycle Rental
If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Tulum. Head west on Avenida Tulum towards the highway. Once you reach the main road (Carretera Tulum-Cancun), turn left and cycle north for about 22 kilometers (approximately 1 hour). Follow the signs to Akumal.
