Getting There

  • Collectivo

    From your location in Playa del Carmen, make your way to the main highway (Carretera Federal 307). Look for a collectivo station, which is usually located near the ADO bus terminal. Collectivos are shared vans that head towards Tulum and Akumal. Get into any collectivo that has 'Akumal' written on it. The ride will take about 30-40 minutes. Inform the driver that you want to be dropped off at Akumal. Once you arrive at Akumal, follow the signs to the Akumal Temple, which is a short walk away.

    Head to the ADO bus terminal located in downtown Playa del Carmen. Purchase a ticket for a bus heading towards Tulum. Buses to Tulum run frequently and the journey takes about 50 minutes. Once you arrive at the Tulum bus station, exit and look for a collectivo or taxi that can take you to Akumal. The collectivo will cost less and will take approximately 15 minutes to reach Akumal.
