Walking
If you're starting from downtown Ann Arbor, head east on Liberty Street until you reach the intersection with South State Street. Turn left (north) and continue walking until you reach Washington Heights. Turn right (east) on Washington Heights, and the Nichols Arboretum will be on your left at 1610 Washington Heights. The total walking distance is approximately 1 mile and should take around 20-25 minutes.

From downtown Ann Arbor, you can catch the AATA bus route 5 (Blue Line) from the stop at Liberty and Main. Take the bus towards the University of Michigan Hospital. Get off at the stop on Washington Heights at the Arboretum. The ride will take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic, and you will have a short walk of about 2 minutes from the bus stop to the entrance of the arboretum.
