Walking
From the center of Mackinac Island, head north towards Main Street. Continue walking along Main Street until you reach the intersection with Fort Street. Turn left onto Fort Street and follow it as it curves to the right. This road will lead you to the entrance of Fort Mackinac, which is a popular landmark. Continue past Fort Mackinac and follow the signs for Fort Holmes Road. You will be walking uphill, so take your time and enjoy the scenic views. Once you reach Fort Holmes Road, continue straight until you arrive at Point Lookout. The lookout is well-marked and offers stunning views of the surrounding area.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Mackinac Island. Start from the Main Street area and make your way to Fort Street. Follow Fort Street as it leads you up to Fort Mackinac. After passing the fort, look for the bike path that directs you towards Fort Holmes Road. The route is predominantly uphill, but the ride is worth it for the breathtaking views. Once you reach Fort Holmes Road, continue along it until you see the signs for Point Lookout. The lookout is a short distance from the main road.
Horse-drawn carriage
For a unique experience, consider taking a horse-drawn carriage ride. You can find carriages near the ferry dock or around Main Street. Inform the driver that you want to go to Point Lookout. They will take you along Fort Street and up to Fort Holmes Road. The ride is relaxing, and you'll get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Once you arrive at the designated stop for Point Lookout, you can disembark and take in the stunning views.
