Getting There

• Walking

  Starting from the main ferry docking area in Mackinac Island, head east along Main Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Cadotte Avenue. At this point, you can enjoy the shops and restaurants along Main Street. Once you reach Cadotte Avenue, turn left and proceed up the hill. Continue walking until you reach the top of the hill, where you'll see the Grand Hotel on your right. From here, continue straight onto the wooded path that leads towards the East Bluff. Follow the path until you come to a fork; take the left path that leads down towards the shoreline. Sugar Loaf Rock will be visible ahead as you approach the water's edge.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops near the ferry dock. Once you have your bike, start at the ferry dock and pedal east along Main Street. Turn left onto Cadotte Avenue, biking up the hill. When you reach the Grand Hotel, continue following the bike path that runs along the East Bluff. This scenic route will take you through beautiful wooded areas with views of the water. Keep an eye out for signs directing you towards Sugar Loaf Rock. As you near the shoreline, you'll see the rock formation ahead, making it an easy destination to spot.

• Horse-drawn Carriage

  For a unique experience, consider taking a horse-drawn carriage ride. You can find carriage tours starting from the ferry dock area. Ask the driver to take you towards Sugar Loaf Rock. The ride will provide a guided tour of the island, and the driver will point out notable sights along the way. Once you reach the vicinity of Sugar Loaf Rock, the carriage will drop you off at the nearest point where you can enjoy a short walk to the rock itself. Remember to check the schedule for the carriage rides, as they may vary throughout the day.
