    From the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, head south on the Gunflint Trail (MN-12). Continue on MN-12 until you reach Grand Marais. In Grand Marais, turn onto MN-61 and head northeast along the shore of Lake Superior. Follow MN-61 until you reach the junction with County Road 17. Turn left onto County Road 17 and continue until you reach Grand Portage. The Grand Portage National Monument is located at 170 Mile Creek Rd, Grand Portage, MN 55605. The drive is approximately 1 hour and covers about 45 miles.
