    The Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site is located in Laclede, Missouri. From the US-36, exit onto MO-5 and head north. Continue onto MO-5 for approximately 2 miles, then turn right onto Pershing Drive. The historic site will be on your left. Parking is available on-site. Buses and RVs are directed to park along Pershing Drive. Limited parking is available.

The Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site in Laclede, Missouri, offers a glimpse into the formative years of one of America's most renowned military leaders. General John Joseph “Black Jack” Pershing commanded the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I and achieved the rank of General of the Armies. The site features the two-story, nine-room Gothic Revival style home where Pershing lived from age six until he was 21. Built in the 1850s and purchased by the Pershing family in 1866, the house is furnished with period-appropriate pieces that transport visitors to the late 19th century. Some furnishings, like the quilt sewn by Pershing's mother, are possibly original. Adjacent to the home is the Prairie Mound School, where Pershing taught before attending West Point Military Academy. The restored one-room schoolhouse features exhibits about Pershing's early years, his time at West Point, and his military career. The site also includes the Pershing Memorial Museum and Leadership Archives, which showcases military memorabilia, personal belongings, and wartime documents. A life-size statue of General Pershing stands proudly on the grounds.
