Hiking
From the Apgar Visitor Center, head east on the Trail of the Cedars loop. Follow the trail until you reach the junction with the Avalanche Lake Trail. Continue on the Avalanche Lake Trail, which leads you through gorgeous scenery. After approximately 2 miles, you will reach Avalanche Lake. From here, continue following the trail as it connects to the Goat Lick area. The total hike from Apgar Visitor Center to Goat Lick is about 5 miles one way, so be prepared for a round trip of 10 miles.

Public Transportation & Hiking
Take the Glacier National Park Shuttle from the Apgar Visitor Center to the Glacier Park Lodge stop. From the lodge, follow the footpath that leads into the park. Look for signs that guide you toward the Goat Lick area. You will hike approximately 3 miles to reach Goat Lick from the lodge. Be sure to check the shuttle schedule ahead of time for the latest departure times.

If you're up for a biking adventure, rent a bike at the Apgar Visitor Center. Ride along the Going-to-the-Sun Road towards the Goat Lick area. The ride will take you through breathtaking landscapes, and you should take your time to enjoy the surroundings. The distance from Apgar to Goat Lick is about 7 miles one way, so plan accordingly for your return trip.
