Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting at the nearest lodging area such as the Canyon Village, exit the lodge and head west on South Entrance Road towards the Grand Loop Road. Continue walking for about 1.5 miles until you reach the junction with the Grand Loop Road. Turn left onto the Grand Loop Road heading north. Continue walking for approximately 3 miles until you see the sign for Norris Geyser Basin on your right. From the sign, follow the path which leads directly to the Norris Geyser Basin Museum.

    If you are starting from the Old Faithful area, exit the Old Faithful Visitor Center and head east on the walking path towards the Grand Loop Road. Once you reach the Grand Loop Road, turn right and walk north for about 10 miles. Look for the sign indicating Norris Geyser Basin on your left. Follow the trail that leads to the museum, which is about a quarter mile from the road.

    From Mammoth Hot Springs, head south on the Grand Loop Road. Walk approximately 14 miles until you reach the junction with Norris Geyser Basin. There will be a sign indicating Norris Geyser Basin on your right. Follow the walking path from the road to the museum, which is around 0.5 miles away.
