Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, you can start from Pokhara, which is a common starting point. Drive north towards Nayapul, which is about 1.5 hours away. From Nayapul, you will need to switch to a more rugged vehicle, as the road becomes a dirt track. Continue driving towards Jomsom, which is roughly a 7-8 hour journey from Nayapul, passing through villages like Beni and Kagbeni. Note that the road can be challenging, so it's advisable to hire a local driver familiar with the route. Expect to pay approximately NPR 10,000 to NPR 15,000 for the car rental, excluding fuel.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  For those opting for public transportation, take a tourist bus from Pokhara to Jomsom. Buses typically leave from the Tourist Bus Park in Pokhara early in the morning, around 7 AM. The journey takes about 8-10 hours with scenic views along the way. The ticket price ranges from NPR 1,500 to NPR 2,000. Make sure to book your bus ticket a day in advance, especially during the trekking season.

• Flight

  Alternatively, if you're looking for a quicker option, consider taking a domestic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. The flight takes about 20-25 minutes and offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna range. Flights operate daily, but it’s best to check the schedule and book in advance. The cost of a one-way ticket typically ranges from NPR 3,000 to NPR 5,000. Once you arrive at Jomsom Airport, Jomsom Bazaar is just a short walk away.

• Walking

  If you are already in the Annapurna Circuit region and looking to hike, you can trek to Jomsom from nearby villages like Kagbeni or Muktinath. The trek from Kagbeni to Jomsom takes approximately 2-3 hours, while from Muktinath it takes around 6-7 hours. Ensure you are well-prepared with appropriate gear and check local guides for the best routes. This option is free, but you should be mindful of your trekking permits.
