Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, head towards the town of Lukla, which is the primary gateway to the Everest region. From Khumjung, drive to the nearest town with a road access, which is usually Namche Bazaar. The journey from Khumjung to Namche Bazaar will take about an hour. Once you arrive in Namche Bazaar, you cannot drive any further as the roads become trekking paths. You will have to park your vehicle and continue your journey on foot.

  • Public Transportation

    For public transportation, take a bus or jeep from Kathmandu to Jiri or Lukla. The bus journey from Kathmandu to Jiri takes around 8-10 hours, while a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is about 30-40 minutes. From Jiri, you will need to trek for several days to reach Lukla. From Lukla, you can start your trek towards Everest Base Camp, which usually takes about 10-12 days, with stops in Namche Bazaar and other villages along the way.
