Walking
If you are in the Thamel area, start by heading south on Tridevi Marg. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Durbarmarg. Turn left onto Durbarmarg and walk straight for about 15 minutes. You will see the entrance to Kathmandu Durbar Square on your right. The square is located in the Basantapur area, and you will be able to see the iconic temples and the palace as you approach.

From Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple), exit and head down the hill to the road. Turn right on the main road and walk for about 30 minutes until you reach the intersection with Chhauni Road. Continue straight and follow the road until you see the signs for Kathmandu Durbar Square. The square will be on your left side as you approach.

If you are near the Garden of Dreams, exit and head east towards Kaiser Mahal. From there, continue walking southeast towards the road named Durbarmarg. Follow Durbarmarg for approximately 10 minutes. You will see the entrance to Kathmandu Durbar Square on your right side. Look for the prominent temples as you get closer.
Public Transport (Microbus)
From Ratna Park, look for a microbus heading towards Basantapur. Once you board, tell the conductor you want to get off at Kathmandu Durbar Square. The ride will take around 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive, follow the signs to the square which will be a short walk from the bus stop.
Walking
If you are at the Kathmandu Durbar High School (near Indra Chowk), head south towards Indra Chowk. From there, take the road leading towards Basantapur. Walk straight for about 5-7 minutes, and you will reach Kathmandu Durbar Square. The area is bustling with shops and local vendors along the way, making it an enjoyable walk.
