Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Thamel, head south towards the Basantapur area. Walk down the narrow streets of Thamel until you reach the main road (Kantipath). Turn right onto Kantipath and continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Bhaktapur Durbar Square Road. Turn left onto Bhaktapur Durbar Square Road. Keep walking straight; you will pass various shops and local eateries. Continue straight until you see the large entrance gate to Hanuman Dhoka on your left side, just before reaching the open space of Basantapur Square.

    From Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is very close to Hanuman Dhoka, exit the square and walk towards the south. You will see the Hanuman Dhoka palace complex directly ahead. The entrance is located on Hanuman Dhoka Sadak, and it will be easily identifiable with its traditional architecture.

    If you are near the Ratna Park area, head north towards the Basantapur area. Walk along the main road, and you will come across the entrance to Hanuman Dhoka after a short stroll. Keep an eye out for signage indicating Hanuman Dhoka as you approach.
