Public Transportation
From Zaanstreek, take train line Intercity (IC) from Zaandam station towards Amsterdam Centraal. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal, exit the station and look for the GVB tram station just outside the main entrance. Take tram line 26 towards ‘Zuid’ and get off at the ‘Zuid’ stop. From there, transfer to bus line 62 towards ‘Amsterdam, Steigereiland’. The bus ride will take about 15 minutes. Get off at the ‘Steigereiland’ stop and you will be within walking distance to explore the area.

If you are driving from Zaanstreek, get onto the A8 motorway from Zaandam. Follow signs for Amsterdam, and merge onto the A10 ring road. Take the exit for A1 towards Amsterdam-Centrum. Continue on the A1 until you reach the exit for ‘Amsterdam, Duivendrecht’ and follow the signs for ‘Amsterdam, Steigereiland’. The drive will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Steigereiland has available parking, but be aware that there may be a parking fee, so ensure you have cash or a card ready for payment.

For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Zaanstreek and follow the North Sea Canal bike path towards Amsterdam. The ride is approximately 12 km and should take around 45 minutes to an hour. Follow the signs towards Amsterdam, then use the dedicated bike lanes to navigate towards Steigereiland. There are bike racks available once you arrive at Steigereiland.
