If you are starting from the Carlsbad Visitor Center located at 500 S. Canal St, head south on Canal St towards W Greene St. Continue on Canal St until you reach W Texaco St, then turn left. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with S 5th St, where you will turn right. Follow S 5th St until you reach the intersection with W Paseo Del Rio St, and turn left. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of the Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

You can take the local bus service from Carlsbad to reach Dana Point. Catch the bus from the nearest bus stop at the Carlsbad Municipal Library on 101 S. Halagueno St. Check the bus schedule for the next available bus heading towards the Santa Fe Depot. From there, transfer to a regional bus service that goes to Dana Point. Once you arrive at Dana Point, follow signs to Dana Point Harbor Dr, and walk towards 24440 Dana Point Harbor Dr.

If you prefer to bike, start from the Carlsbad Riverwalk Recreation Area. Head north on the bike path that runs along the river. Continue on the path until you reach the intersection with S Canal St, then turn right. Follow S Canal St until it merges with W Greene St, then continue to follow W Greene St until you reach the intersection with S 5th St. Turn right onto S 5th St, and then turn left onto W Paseo Del Rio St, which will lead you to the entrance of the Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
