    From Hunter Mountain, head southwest on NY-23A S toward the junction with NY-32. Continue on NY-32 S for approximately 10 miles. Merge onto I-87 S (New York State Thruway) toward New York City. After about 25 miles, take exit 18 for NY-299 toward Highland. Turn left onto NY-299 W and continue for about 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Macks Ln, and you will find Franny Reese State Park on your right. Be aware that parking is available on-site, and there may be a small fee for parking during peak seasons.

    To reach Franny Reese State Park via public transit, start by taking the Trailways bus from Hunter Mountain to Poughkeepsie. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour and costs around $15-20. Once you arrive at the Poughkeepsie bus terminal, transfer to the Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) bus route 6 toward Highland. This ride will take about 30 minutes and costs $2.
