Getting There

  • Bus

    From Montauk, head to the nearest bus stop located on Main Street. Look for the Suffolk County Transit bus (Route 10) that goes towards East Hampton. Board the bus and stay on for approximately 45 minutes until you reach the East Hampton train station. From there, transfer to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train towards New York Penn Station. Get off at the Bridgehampton station after about 20 minutes. Once at Bridgehampton, transfer to a Greyhound or Peter Pan bus heading to Mystic, CT. The trip to Mystic will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Mystic, walk approximately 15 minutes to reach Mystic Seaport Museum at 75 Greenmanville Ave.

    From Montauk, make your way to the Montauk train station which is on Edgemere Street. Board the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train heading west towards New York Penn Station. You will need to transfer at the Bridgehampton station to a bus service or at the Ronkonkoma station to catch a train heading to New Haven, CT. If you choose the bus from Bridgehampton, take the Greyhound or Peter Pan bus directly to Mystic, CT. The Mystic Seaport Museum is about a 15-minute walk from the bus station in Mystic.

    If you're up for a scenic ride, you can rent a bicycle in Montauk. Start on Main Street and head towards East Lake Drive. Continue on East Lake Drive until you reach Route 27. Follow Route 27 west towards Amagansett. After about 10 miles, you will reach East Hampton. From there, you can take local roads or paths to connect with local bus routes heading to Mystic. Be sure to check the local bus schedule to plan your route effectively, as this option may take a considerable amount of time.
